I have an HP 530J with an integrated video card with a VGA output that has failed. After testing with 2 working monitors I've concluded that the video card has failed. When the PC is powered on the monitor returns a "No Signal" message.

The motherboard has 3 PCI slots. I purchased and inserted an EVGA e-GeForce FX 5200 nVIDIA PCI card. Now when I turn on the PC the monitor still displays a "No Signal" message. The card has a DVI output and a DVI to VGA converter. I've tried connecting both via DVI and VGA, but get the same "No Signal" message in both cases.

I can hear the fan on the new card, so I know that it's seated. How can I get the display to appear? Thanks.

Onboard Video uses system RAM. It is possible that that the RAM is the failure in the computer though usually it will show signs of failing prior to complete failure.

When you start the computer, is Video the only thing that fails? Does the HD spin up? Lights come on? Does the HD light flicker as though the OS is loading? Are there any beeps?

If you have a spare stick of RAM, try that or if the computer has two sticks, remove one at a time. Also if the computer has a PCI modem installed, try removing that and/or any other PCI cards.

Also make sure no children have inserted anything in any of the USB ports or Card Reader slots.
