HP 7210 Printer probs..............

My printer is about 2 yrs old and is connected to my Dell 4600 (XP OS). All ok till about 2 days ago and I put a text doc in the scanner and attempted to scan to word. Wouldn't work. Said something about needing a disk with something on it. Tried several things then decided to uninstall and reinstall. Uninstall went well and reinstall (from HP disk) went well to almost the end and then a message that said "Required section was not found in the INF". No error showed. I tried several things suggested by several people. No luck. Went online to Hp.com/support and tried to download drivers and software from there. Same prob. Went back to HP site and opened troubleshoot and found the very same message I had and how to rectify it. Followed directions and the then attempted, once again, to install software both from disk and from online. Install stops at same place and has same message. :confused Can anyone advise me? Thanks in advance.

The problem I have with HP printers is that the software installs, but the printer drivers on the disk or downloaded installation file, do not copy to the folder called product in program files, Hewlett Packard, HP, on the c drive. So I have to manually copy them from the folder on the disk called product, to the folder on the hard drive called product. Make any sense? Have that problem with two different models of their all-in-one printers, on multiple computers.:banghead

Bug.........Tried to find folder product on disc but unable to. Is it under another name? Could you please walk me thru the whole exercise please? Thanks a lot.............Jack
