HP a610n video color issue

After adding a stick of RAM to a HP a610n desktop PC, the color of the letters in the BIOS splash screen changed from white to yellow. When Windows started up, the colors were way off as if the monitor or video card were defective.

I removed the additional stick of RAM and the problem continued. Checked the monitor and cable on another PC; they're fine.

Put in a working PNY 8400GS PCI-e video card and connected the video cable to it. Same yellow letters in the BIOS splash screen and off-color display in Windows.

If it were an on-board video issue, I would have figured ditching the on-board video and installing a video card would have solved the issue.

What an I missing? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

It turned out my KVM switch was to blame.

Port 1 (the one I have my main PC hooked to) works fine. So does Port 4. Ports 2 and 3 (the ones I tried) appear to have an internal issue that is screwing up the color display.

In the past, a failing KVM switch always seemed to involve a keyboard and/or mouse issue. Now I know better. :-o
