HP Colour Laserjet 2840 problem

Hi,

I've just put a replacement imaging drum in the HP 2840 recently given to us.

It keeps giving an error message of "10.1004 Supply error Reinstall".

I've tried reinstalling it a number of times but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Is an original imaging drum?

recharged sutff makes error on printers, we have like 6 HP printers with recharged imaging drums and some series detect that doesn't original and others works.

 

Yes it is not an original but a remanufactured one. What can I do to get the printer to accept it?

 

Maybe that's the reason, printers are really sensitive about this, maybe you will have to check if there's any option to avoid the advertising or just get another one.

 

A lot of printer/copier makers have special chips/circuits in the drums/toners/etc that tell the unit a original supply item is in it. Some remanufacturers can reset those when they redo a drum/cartridge but it is always a crap shoot as to how well they do it, if it takes and if the printer or copier will recognize a reset supply item.

As a former certified Sharp & Panasonic copier and HP/Lexmark/OkiData/Brother printer tech, remanufactured supply item issues were a lot of our service calls.
