    1. You will always have notepad and wordpad.
    2. Office will be installed, but is a trial version usually.
    3. Flash player is integrated into IE 10, so yes you do have it(for that browser).

Thanks for you reply, this is one of the best forum boards I have.

Couple more questions if you will.

    1. How or where do I locate these two. I like to do a lot of my church work and save it to but I cannot find those two items. I need to do some typing and copy it to my docs.

    Your are right about flashplayer

With Windows 8, you can access it by going to the start "screen" and right clicking. It will reveal an all apps button in which you can view everything installed, including notepad and wordpad.

If in the event that Office is not installed, or you want a free alternative, take a look at something like Open Office.

Here's a little tip about using 8 that isn't at all obvious if you've been using earlier versions of Windows. Go to the Start screen and just start typing - anywhere - it doesn't matter. Type word and Wordpad will appear, and if you also have MS Word that will appear too. Type note and Notepad will appear. It's like the Start > Search box in Vista and 7 but rather cleverer, as once you become accustomed to it you can find absolutely anything this way.

Once you have WordPad and/or Notepad open, you can pin them to the taskbar on the desktop. To do this, right click on the icon on the taskbar and select "Pin to taskbar". As you have probably recognized by now, the Desktop in Windows 8 is very much the same as the Windows 7 desktop. The taskbar works the same.

I do have a question perhaps you can answer.

On the old Dell I had vista and also I had an email (WinMail) could you tell me if I have Vista on the new computer and is winmail still available. I'm close to 78yrs. things come a little slower.
