HP DesignJet 430 & 450 connections

OK... sure I am just missing a simple thing (as usual).

Here is my setup:
Have a DesignJet 430 & 450 connected to a dummy system that is running WinXP Pro SP3, it is connected to the network and I was printing to them via another system that was also running WinXP Pro SP3.

Had no problems.

Now, I set myself up a new system running Windows 7 Pro, having problems linking those DesignJets so that I can print to them.

Have tried several things:
> Changing the dummy system from just being connected to the network via a workgroup to (now) per the domain.
> Installing (or trying to install) the DesignJets onto the Windows 7 system
> Adding the DesignJets to the Active Directory

On the Window 7 system, I can find the printer but it fails to connect as it wants the driver installed and - I know - these DesignJets are outdated and HP offers no drivers for them on a Win7 system.

Anyone have ideas / suggestions????

Use Windows "Compatibility Mode" to install the drivers, and "tell" W7 to emulate WinXP SP3.

 

Familiar with the process but not finding it easy to get there.

On the Win7 system, I am going to the Devices & Printers area and adding a "networked" printer, after that I am not finding the way to adjust the compatibility mode.

Which way are looking at it?

Right click on the executable file for your drivers, click "Properties" and choose the mode for compatibility.
