HP deskjet 9800 installation error

    I had a HP deskjet 9800 installed and working fine for a couple weeks. Then started having trouble printing pdf's and tif's. Eventually had issues with many other types of documents. I uninstalled the driver and tried to reinstall using the disk and also tried a file from HP that was downloaded. I keep getting error messages saying unable to install and retry.

    What can I do?

    Which windows version is this?

    Its possible that the drivers didnt uninstall completly, so any complete error message if it also includes error codes will be helpful, also run this tool from HP to scrub any and all reminents of the driver http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=dj-30282-1

    Do also check in Program Files for any remaining folders for the HP and run CCleaner and its cleanup and registry cleaners to remove any temp files.

    Then reboot and reinstall the current drivers from HP.

    Thanks for your suggeston it worked on XP. I used the utility and tried to reinstall and received same error message that the installation failed. Then I plugged in the USB and let windows install the hardware. I know it wasn't the technically correct way to do it, but it worked and the others didn't.

    Help on HP deskjet 9800

    I reinstalled the driver and now I can not print. I was able to print one page from word this morning and now nothing will prit. I am not receiving any error messages, just not printing and having a hard time delleting from the print log
