Hp Doesn't Support Xp, Can I Manually Install Software??

So we bought a new HP 9012 printer. We have several computers and mobile devices that can successfully use the printer. The only fly in the ointment is my old desktop with Windows XP. Our last HP printer from about 5 years ago supported XP, and even came with a CD with the software on it. Fast forward, now there is no cd included and all software is installed from the website, and they dropped XP. Is there anywhere that I can get the software for this printer and manually install it? Not a big deal, as I have a laptop and a phone that can use the printer, but it would be cool if I could get my old PC to run the printer. Thanks, Ed

Great suggestion, thanks. Unfortunately, the software can't find the printer. Guessing the printer is configured to not recognize XP. Still working on it though..........

Right, once you have the generic driver installed, go to devices and printers and add a new printer. Do you have the printer shared on the network with a static ip? Select local printer (not networked).
Select create a new port - standard TCP/IP - use the static IP of the printer. Then select HP manufacture & select generic drivers.

Try printing from the XP computer to the HP OfficeJet 9012 via Wi-Fi.

@foogoo, Thanks for the help. I got all the way to selecting the HP manufacture, but the generic drivers don't show up in the list. The generic software is in my computer, but doesn't show up on the list. Maybe I installed it wrong, is there something to look out for during installation to fix this? Ed

Click "Have Disk and browse to c:\HP Universal Print Driver\ keep opening folders until you see an ".ini" file, click and and continue.

I did everything in your tutorial, have the exact same recent HP generic software, and get right to the end and hit the Finish button, and then a little "copying files" window opens, and it looks like all the driver files are being installed...and when it finishes, I get an error window, and it says, driver files cannot be installed, operation not completed. Not sure what the problem is. I appreciate all your help.
