HP dvd 740 external drive

    My dvd Drive in a USB device. I keep getting a messege that it is an unrecognized device. When I first installed it, XP recognized it and it worked. Since, it is not recognized, but the door will open and the software (Nero, shipped with it) will not list it in the devices. I hope that someone can help me get it working. Thanks,

    Hi

    In Device Manager do you have any yellow ! marks?

    What you could do as it maybe a corrupted USB Mass Driver issue, is to plug the USB DVD in and then goto Device Manager and open Universal Serial Bus Controllers and if USB Mass Storage Device is in the list, right click and choose Uninstall, then remove your USB DVD, reboot then plug it back in and hopefully it the OS will re-install the driver.


    *dont have any USB pens or other USB storage devices connected at the time of pluging in and deleting the USB DVDs driver.
