I deleted the factory installed partitions (after creating factory restore discs) and tried to load a fresh copy of Windows 7 64bit from a disc. Got as far as creating two primary partitions but Windows is unable to load or recognise the HDD. It supposedly is 2 x 1TB @ 5400rpm. My deleting partitions got me to a single HDD of about 1.8 TB. Why won't the Windows OS I tried do any more than create the 2 partions I want (have to have 100Mb set aside for system) and not load all the files to start? I tried 64 bit versions of Windows 7 Ultimate and Home Premium unsuccessfully.

    Thanks.

If you boot into the BIOS does it show you have 1 or 2 hard drives? Not sure why Windows would say you have one 1.8Tb drive unless it's really a 2Tb single drive.

personally I use the Linux based gParted Live CD for all my partitioning duties. You don't need to have that 100mb partition for Win 7 btw. I usually use gParted to create how many partitions I want on a drive, it will format it to ntfs, set the flag to boot then I just install Win7.

Thanks Sam. BIOS doesn't show me any Drive information. Belarc say one. I have attached a zip file of a Print Screen which may help.

    Excuse me but, ...

    WTF! O_O

OK try this ( I would say the above if that happened to me lol)

Could be a simple loose cable man, or is that thing a Laptop ? -_-

DOH! EDIT! >_< : Ok, I hate working out issues on laptops because they can be really tricky. I now own one and I have noticed, its not the best Idea to kill those partitions because if you can't find those disks or your computer does not have an image of it then you are screwed later on, but its up to you cause its your "slaptop" :).

Now I have seen this before , man I always get the weird issues lol even on my desktop I seen this happen. I believe there are some kind of settings in your BIOS that need to be changed in order for you to proceed, so If I were you I would check into that. If your computer was previously Windows XP or something I would think some of the components maybe a little dated? But thats a guess. If there are any harddrive config tools or maybe the BIOS is making it so the drives are not priority or there is some kind of OS support. -_- can't see anything just throwing it all out there. Google it out and check it :)

    Repost ( Edit hated me)
EDIT II ( This time its personal!) :boxing: Ok ok I just read that you have 64bit Win 7, hrrrmm... Try this sir, kill both partitions and only make one for the OS, this has happened to me before :banghead it gets weird and wont let you go with other partitions, so just get the OS started first then get into Windows and make the others with Disk Management

I presuming this may be an issue: 2TB Dual Hard Drive RAID 0. I gather it would be mirror drives, 2 x 1TB. Can I make one the OS & one the data? How do I go about it? Thanks.

I used Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with SP1 and it worked just fine. I have a single 2TB HDD. Thanks for all your suggestions.
