So my power jack had gone bad, like they commonly do from what I have read on here, but after I replaced the part and reassembled the laptop I ran into a problem. It turned on and went to a screen saying something about a bios error. I hit enter to proceed with the boot up and as windows was starting up, the computer shut down. And now it will not turn on at all. All I have is the light from the power jack when I plug it in.

I have tried removing the RAM, as well as running it with the battery out and neither had any results. Did I screw something up when I reassembled it? Is this thing toast? Haha

If you have the Light of the Power Jack obviously the laptop is recieving energy, now about turn it on, usually i do this, discc all devices, HDD, RAM, DVD Device, Keyboard, everything that you can unplug and remember what you unplugged.

Try to turn it on without the battery, all that you need at least is to see some information about BIOS or listen the "beep" or any change that means "vital sign" of the NB.

After that connect the KB and try to turn it on (always using adaptator not battery)

Finally try to see where the power button goes and if is correctly connected, because that LED indicates energy is being recieved.

try to see if you can start the notebook using the trick of energy jump, in PC when the power button is dissconected from board, with a pen or screwdriver you can make a short circuit to turn it on.

    Hope it helps.

I don't know why you attempt to fix something about you don't know, but i like the learning attitude so...

KB means Keyboard, but as i see maybe you could save that laptop going to a computer shop where a technician maybe fix it.

Maybe is cheaper than you think and if you move incorrectly something maybe you will lose a resource.

    Just my opinion.

    Best regards.:zzz
