After sometime I figured out the reason why my laptop was causing a high CPU.

When i look at youtube videos or certain websites the fan starts causing a high CPU. I have a HP G62 which seems to be a common.

Would changing the fan on the laptop eradicate this problem? If so could someone recommend a cheap one? and would it be a simple job?

    Thanks

Disassembling a laptop is not an easy job. I tend to avoid doing it personally.

First, have you tried cleaning the fan with canned air?
Second do you have the laptop resting on a cooling mat or at the very least have it raised up on wooden sticks to let airflow go under the laptop? I used a cutup yardstick placed on either side of the laptop to raise it a bit.

I have one laptop and two netbooks. All are using active or passive cooling.
This is the passive cooling mat I bought at Staples (when it was on sale or I had a credit from my used ink cartridges) that I use under my netbooks

You've actually got part of it backwards. When the CPU heats up, the thermal management cranks up the fan speed. When that's not enough, it slows down the CPU to force it to cool down. Its the slowdown thats causing the high CPU usage.
Here is the G62's service manual: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02542455/c02542455.pdf
In it will be instructions for disassembly and a complete parts listing. There will not be any third party fan which will fit; but, most of them these days are in the $10-20 range. Make sure you read what will be necessary to replace the fan before you attempt it because it will be a pile of parts and about 35 screws before you get that fan loose!
Before you try, get a can of Blow-Off, turn it off, find the vents on the left side under the VGA port, and blow into those vents with the Blow-Off. The dust will come out of the fan hole on the bottom. Be thorough, then try YouTube again.
P.S. I often put stick on rubber feet on the back corners to help with the airflow and make sure you don't have that fan intake on a pillow or your thigh.
