This is a post for my friend.

He has a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC.

..I guess he has a serious video, or sound card problem. Every game he plays, like Dawn of War 2, Borderlands..Starcraft 2...he will play it for about..20 minutes, then it will start to lag, and gradually get SOO bad, that the computer just crashes. and the sound starts crackling really bad too. Im not sure if this is with everything, but... He hasn't had this problem, up untill just recently. We even re-installed the video card, and sound drivers...or are we barking up the wrong tree?

he has intel dual core 2.3ghz 4gb ddr2 Mobility Radeon HD 4650

Can anybody help? Any ideas/help would be appreciated very much.
( we are trying to dodge doing a complete system repair...)

    Hi

Have you tried using compressed air to thoroughly clean all of the vents/fans on the laptop? Dust collection can lead to overheating, which can lead to issues such as you describe.
