    Hi All,

I have recently bought a new PC which does not have the same port arrangement in the back as my last machine( please excuse my lack of technical language as I'm a computer biff). I also have a HP laserjet 5p which was in perfect working order. The new machine has windows 7 and the old machine had XP. No matter what I try I cannot get anything to print. It just sits in the print queue. I searched the windows 7 compatibility site and I am un-sure if my printer is supported. I was then advised to purchase a 25 pin female to USB connector cable from mycableshop.com. The cable I am assured has the driver software in it, is that correct? It populates the devices screen with USB Printing Support but I can not get it to recognise my laserjet 5p. The support tool setting will not allow me to make any changes, not that I really know what I'm doing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as having spent cash on a new PC, a new printer as well will be a big kick in the nuts!!

    Thanks in advance

HP's planned obsolence to force people into buying new printers strikes again.
