I've just swapped the screens on two HP omnibook 6000's and now they are both shutting down as soon as i start up?

They were both running ok about an hour or two ago and now they are both doing it?

One of them is/was stone cold when i booted it and it still done it, so i don't *think* heat is an issue.

What is my tired brain not thinking of?

    help!

EDIT: when i say "shutting down" they are just going off, no attempt to close down properly.

Nevermind, i found the common denominator, a dodgy power cord!
(don't worry i have already slapped myself)
