HP Pavilion 7925 MB CD

Hi, My Son in Law has asked me to try and put his system back on to this HP Pavilion 7925 PC, after he had to format it. It is an Oem version of Win xp. So we still have the legal serial number for winxp . But, I just cannot get the motherboard to read the HD. I was thinking it might be because the system came with the Motherboard it will have to be a HP Pavilion 7925 Motherboard cd. It will not boot up to a floppy either, nor will it allow me into the bios. Any ideas Guys, please.

Does the pc still have the original motherboard inside? If he reformatted there's nothing on the hard drive to boot from. Clear the cmos by, unplug power, remove motherboard battery for a few minutes, hold down on-off button for a few seconds, reinstall battery, try again. When post screen comes up look for boot order [ most hp's is Esc] that will give you the option of booting fron cd-dvd drive. Install your windows disc into cd-dvd rom now. Use arrows to move to cd-dvd hit enter, hit any key when you see writing in the upper left corner of screen. ed

 

Hi Tunered, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The Motherboard is the original one. In the meantime, I actually did take the battery out and was able to get to the bios. I then reinstalled winxp without any hassle. But nevertheless your help was brilliant. Thank you so much.
