I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. A couple weeks ago I started having a problem with powering up. When I push the start button the lights come on for about 1 second and shuts down. I googled the problem, found the advise of pressing down firmly on the keyboard and press the power button. That worked for a about 1 week but now it won't. Any suggestion?

    Hi kasey22l,

Most likely the video chip on the motherboard needs to be resoldered.

Hp dv6000 as well other dv series laptops have a very poor layout, where the video chip and processor chip are way too close together and cause overheating.
