Hp Pavilion P6

    When I boot up my pc I get the hp logo then screen goes black after a min or two I can move the mouse or tap keys and screen will come on but only for a couple of seconds and not very bright or sharp, then goes black again, video is integrated any help appreciated thx.

    Try another monitor. If you don't have one, you can either hook it up to a tv or ask a friend if you can borrow his/her monitor to troubleshoot a problem.

    When my monitor was dying, it would go black after a certain period of time. The time it remained on got shorter and shorter. Either a resistor or a capacitor was failing. Since NO ONE (and I checked lots of places) repairs monitors and I didn't trust myself to desolder and solder a new part, I e-cycled it.

    Sorry forgot to mention id tried another monitor does exactly the same. I'm thinking it's the graphics chip would that be repairable or is it a new motherboard total novice here.

    You put a graphics card into a desktop computer and use that instead of the onboard graphics chip.
