HP pavilliion desktop with memory error

Hello,

I have an HP Pavillion a6537c desktop with windows vista that gave me a memory error of BIOME-1. I purchased new memory and installed it but there seems to be something else wrong with the PC since it still has a memory error. I have tried 3 different sets of memory so I know the memory is not the problem now.
Could you please help me? I imagine there is an other problem, could it be the motherboard?
I had not used the PC for about a year because of the memory error and I set it back to factory settings.

A BIOME-1 error usually means a fault with the memory module. But, you've tried 3 different sets. I'm guestimating the fault is with the motherboard.

It would most likely be cheaper to just buy a new PC! Looking at the price of memory and motherboard, it would be over $200.00. Do you think I would be able to sell the PC for parts?

I would try 1 memory module in 1 slot. If the fault persists, try the other slot. I would also do this with a second memory module. Maybe just 1 slot is faulty.

Whether it's worth repairing, depends on the age of the PC. Newegg has a great ASRock motherboard for $49.99. Shipping is just $1.99. But, you may have to also replace the CPU & RAM.

You could also shop around for a used motherboard but, that's risky. Selling the individual parts will get you more than selling the PC to a second-hand store. However, you'll not sell all the parts at once.
