Bought this computer new for a co worker. She hated windows 8, so another co worker thought he'd blow this machine away and install windows 7. Turns out the machine won't handle 7. So, I clean installed windows 8 pro. Did all the updates and it booted fine, but won't boot from HD. Now the machine won't boot from disk and gives me a no boot disk error message.

    I went into bios and
    changed order to 1- HD, 2- cd/dvd 3-floppy 4-UEFI: IPV4 5- UEFI: IPV6.
read that Legacy Support and Secure Boot should be disabled. Fast boot is also disabled.

Seems like no matter what I do, I cant get it booted now.

found my issue. previously the win 7 was installed with win 7 partitions. When I "clean installed" win 8 the computer acted like it was actually doing it, but it was simply loading from the disk. When I read through this post http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/wi...guide-to-a-windows-8-clean-installation/6881/ it gives a really good step by step. I had missed deleting one of the partitions and letting windows make them again.
