HP Photosmart 1115 printer driver for Vista

HP doesn't have driver update posted for Vista - any options found?

Hi and Welcome to Majorgeeks kaycelou

Found this info via a testers newsgroup for Vista I'm on, so likelyhood it works ok or hopefully should do as the feedback on this was positive.

Open Control Panel up and click Hardware and Sound > under Printers click Add a Printer > choose Add Local Printer > Use Existing Port and leave as LPT1 and click Next > then pickfrom the left menu side Hewlet Packard and from the right Photosmart C7200 as in the below image

Click next and follow the prompts to install that driver, hopefully it will work as it has for some.

Sadly HP like many other companies are not going to update their drivers for hardware thats over 4yrs old, they would far rather you buy a new printer! Sadly this is out of the hands of Microsoft as its these otehr comapnies that write drivers for their products.

Also and this is a wild outside chance, is something I blogged about ages ago in a all purpose driver from Xerox and its Express Global Driver.. worth a go if the HP one above doesnt work for you.

After installing C7200 series drivers on LPT1, I went to the control panel and changed the port to USB. The new computer doesn't have a paralell port. The C7200 drivers work great on the USB port but when the computer boots, an error pops up about an IEEE 1284.4 device port. Is there some way to get rid of this error? Anyway, thanks for the tip Halo!

BTW, I did this for a friend on a new computer, so if anyone wants to know the exact error I probably won't be able to get it.
