I'm stumped trying to install an HP Photosmart c309g printer on an HP desktop with win7-64bit. Things I've tried:
    1. Uninstall all previous HP printer software (with HP scrubber utility)
    2. Uninstall all security software
    3. Disable firewall
    4. Empty all temp files
    5. Run as Admin
    6. Redownload current software from HP (basic & full feature)

The software will start, but when it gets to "prepare system for installation" I get an error. I have attached screenshots.

Any help with this would be appreciated. View attachment install failed.doc

What I had to do with a HP Photosmart that came with a disk, was to download the latest installer with drivers from the HP site and then, before running, right click the downloaded icon and select Run as Administrator.
Still got a couple of error messages but just kept clicking through them and it installed.
One problem with the disk is that any OS that has updated since the printer disk was made, makes the installer out of date.
The download is a large one.

This is the driver/installer download page.

I did download the latest driver from HP. I have now been on a support call with HP for about 2 hrs. and they can't figure it out either:confused

Have you tried running the installer as Administrator?

Yes, I always start with right click, run as administrator. I spent 3 hrs. with HP support. Their last suggestion was a system restore and if that didn't work, system recovery. Well, I tried the system restore to a point before I had run the scrubber utility and went through their suggested steps. That didn't work either and a system recovery is not an option, because I have so much software installed. Guess I'll just get a non-HP printer :-D
