HP Photosmart printer will not stay on

First, the printer was working fine until my sister attempted to install the HP Eprint application for her IPad. Then she couldn't print at all. The printer wouldn't not stay powered on. She would push the power button and get an error C2FE020A, then turn off.

Can't locate the error code anywhere (Google, HP). Found a trouble shooting page that suggests you unplug the USB cable remove the cartridges then power off then restart, that was a failure. Nothing helped.

We've attempted to reinstall the printer but it won't stay on long enough to complete the process, wired or wirelessly.

Her computers are XP SP3 and Windows 7. The laptop is a Toshiba and the old desktop is an HP.

I live miles away from me sister but have the same model printer. In an act of desperation and insanity, I loaded the app on my Iphone and with a few struggles got it to work and can print from the Iphone, Win 7 and Vista computers.

It seems the printer is going to sleep. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
