Does anyone know why when I install my HP printer software, 4 or 5 processes from it are constantly running rather than just 1? Is there any way around this, or another brand of printer that doesn't hog as much ram?

I only have two processes running for both HP printer and a scanner. Have you rid yourself of the greeting card maker etc.?

    BTW, welcome aboard.:)

It must have been something on the hp cd that came with the printer. I formatted and re-installed xp, downloaded the hp driver from the net and no longer have a problem. Thanks for the response!.. and the welcome

Good, lot's of crap on the CD and you're welcome though formatting is the last thing that I would ever do, only if I had no other option.

I actually formatted to get rid of a virus that norton/adaware couldn't locate, just took care of the printer thing at the same time.
