HP Product Assistant Help

Hello,

I am having an issue with a popup saying that I need to reinstall the HPProductAssistant which doesn;t seem to want to go away. After searching other forums, I can;t get a sense for whether this is spyware or a virus or just simply something wrong with the software for my HP printer that I downloaded. Perhaps related, my internet explorer has been inexplicably slow in loading webpages. This obviously could be something completely different, but I thought I'd mention it in case it's something you guys have seen before as being related to whatever this HPProductAssistant issue is.

I also have not yet tried to uninstall and reinstall the HP software because I wanted to check with you guys as far as whether this might be a virus or not. The other thing is that when I first installed the HP software, this was not an issue. It has only come up recently after having the software installed without any issues for a couple months.

My computer does the same thing! I'm pretty sure it is false and not a glitch, though. If you look at the *refresh* and *stop* buttons, they are really fake. I haven't been able to get rid of this using mcaffee, norton, or the simple system clean-up command. One time when I left my computer on for a day, I returned to find something like 75 of those windows had popped up!
