HP PSC 2110 Download Error

Ok Im not sure I am posting this in the right place or not but here goes. I am having trouble with my hp 2110 and so I uninstalled the software, Now when I got to re-install it I get an error message saying msiexec.exe has generated an error and will be shut down thus keeping me from installing the software. Any ideas what I can do?? HP's site says something about renaming the file in safe mode but I get a little nervous messing around in safe mode. I think this has to do with my problem I had with an adware/spyware I got hit with a couple of months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

If you were striked by spyware:
Try this:

Don't miss any steps, once you are done. Try to install the software again.

If you have WinXP then try re-installing the windows installer package again

latest version 3.1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en

if you have a different Windows version then search for the latest installer.
