HP scan question/problem

    I have HP photosmart printer. I use the scan feature. Error 1706 pops up.
    Scan.msi is missing. I went to HP website followed instruct. per their website
    when getting missing file from the disc that came with printer. However when I try to install this scan.msi, I get nothing. It won't install.

    When I run scanner and the error comes up, I have clicked ok about 4 times.
    Scanner then starts to work. I don't know how to solve this. Everything is up to date. I'm running windows vista. Can someone help? Thank you much.

    Thank you much for responding.
    Have selected repair. Still get message that file is not installed. I don't understand that.

    Do you get the msi file when you look through the downloads?
    If so, you might have to relocate the folder in which it is located from a temporary location to your desktop.
