Hp touchpas is going insane! plz help!

Hi, i own an hp pavilion dv7-1464nr and run windows vista 64bit. I've had it for about 4 months now. the laptop has a touch pad at the base of the screen that can control several functions of the computer including raising and lowering the volume. whenever you use it to adjust the volume a small black box appears on the screen showing the volume change.

Recently though this box is appearing on its own and spazzing out, going up and down very rapidly for no reason even when im not touching the touch pad. ive tried uninstalling the audio devices and updating their drivers but no luck... im thinking maybe its the touch pad alone?

if anyone can tell me what the name of this device is, whether its under the keyboard or controller section in hardware list, so i can try reinstalling the driver for it or has another solution please help!

try looking in the 3rd section here Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
i can take a guess either the touchpad or the fingerprint sensor mate let us no how you get on,

p.s. my next door neighbour has 2 hp pavilions and both the sound pad on them went funny a few months back she had to press the mute button to turn the laptop on, !! (WTF LOL) bt she managed to take them off and just reconnect them and worked fine,
