to remove the annoying pop-up box called HPProductAssistance from your startup, go to the program files folder, to HP, and delete all files and subfolders under HPProductAssistance

I prefer to uninstall a program cleanly because of registry entires, services and settings associated with programs. When you just delete the file these entries can be left over on your PC creating clutter, startup errors or re-install problems at a later date.

I have a HP all-in-one, there is an assistant but never see a pop-up... Might want to run CCleaner Slim to clean up your registry, leave at defaults it can be found here.

Just wanted others that read this thread to know there are other options. Personally never used the assistant, but others might have a need for it and can repair it.
