Whilst looking in the public documents folder on my laptop (HP G6000, Vista) I noticed a file called hpqp. The reason I looked in this folder was because Internet Explorer has just closed down due to a 'Runtime Error'.

I deleted hpqp and it disappeared but when I switched my laptop on the next time hpqp had returned. The file was created the same time my laptop was switched on.

The text (a few lines, in what appears to be Notepad) mentions HP Quickplay but I'm not convinced this is genuine.

Can anyone tell me how to remove hpqp?

    Thanks for your time.

    This is not malware related.

    Hi

Moved to Software as Kestrel mentions not a malware issue, but to give you an option on blocking this is if you dont wish this application to start with your PC is to open Windows Defender, which is built into Vista (click Start and type in the Start Search box defender and it will show in the list)

Once open click Tools > Software Explorer > click Show for All Users at bottom and then look down the list for HP Quickplay or hpqp and highlight and click Disable,

This disables it and allows you to re-enable it if a component that needs it running doesnt work properly.
