hs_err_pid messages logs

    I am gettings these logs on my destop from time to time lately. I know it has to do with Java and I think (but not sure) they appear when I have CBS Sports scoreboard running and it crashes. Nothing really seems to be harmed and I just restart the scoreboard.

    I am running Windows XP and have attached one of the logs to this message. I would appreciate any help if anyone thinks I need to actually do anything -- I can live with just restarting the scoreboard and deleting the logs.

    XP uptodate as of last week.
    Firewall - ZoneAlarm
    Antivirus - avast!
    Spybot S&D
    SpywareBlaster

    The only JAVA reference I see in my programs under Add/Remove is: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9. Is there possibly anything or some other JAVA related program I should look for that I may have missed?

    And, on the Remove and Install, is it just that simple: Step 1 -- Remove J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9, and, Step2 -- Install the software your link referenced?

    Hi

    Yes as simple as Step 1 and 2, Java sadly is not an application that rolls up its updates, so best practice is to remove old version and install new, reboot and try again.

    also you can test your Java for it working correctly here http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

    reason I asked on security apps is that some can block specific pages, so if still having issue, disable Spybot.
