HSDOCLC.dll/dnserror.html

computer will connect to internet,IE will come up but will say cant find server
it will flash HSDOCLC.dll/dnserror.html before it displays it cant find server.
Have any suggestions on what to do?

 

What makes you say it connects to the internet? Can it ping a website (like google.com). If it can't ping a website try pinging 216.239.57.99 (it's google again) to see if it's just a DNS error.

If it works with the IP chances are the DNS is just set wrong. You should check the properties on the connection and make sure it is set to get the dns server address automaticly.

 

Im not sure it is connected, but it says it is, shows connection and speed.
this is probably a dumb question, but what is pinging?
Im kinda new to this, I can format and reload, but when it comes to daignostics im lost.

 

To ping something just press windows+r then type cmd and press enter. Now with the command line opened simply type "ping google.com". Or whatever it is you want to ping, and it will try four times and tell you the results. Let me know how that goes.

The fact that it shows a connection speed just means that the cord is physically plugged in. It doesn't mean anything else is actually working.
