HTML 4.0 Using CSS

    I am having problems getting the text inside the cells of a table to align top and left. The page has to render using HTML 4.0 with CSS. I am running Windows XP, CPU: 1.3 GHz. I have tried to use cellpadding and cellspacing, but the text will not align to the top with the valign tag or align left with the align tag. I know this is a simple question, but I can't get the table to render correctly. I appreciate anyone's help with this.

    are you putting the align tags inside the <td> tag?
