    Perhaps I should put this in the Lounge forum but it involves HTML and CSS so I'll get better help here.
    I just signed up in Hi5 and I am configuring my profile. HTML and CSS is allowed. Most buddies pasted fixed codes sponsored in Hi5. I want to do something different. Do you know any tricks that can make the page look cool?

    Heh...

    marquee is a cool tag, but has HORRIBLE browser support.. (last I checked, only MSIE and Netscape supported it)

    I don't know how many cool things you can do with these languages alone... although, CSS does allow you to do some things HTML alone couldn't touch. Like overlap images, or create drop shadows...

    For REALLY "cool" stuff, you would need a scripting language.... is there any javascript support? I could recommend a few things then...

    marquee works for me on FF 2.0. I'll find a use for it, thx ;).
    Nah, unfortunately it's only CSS an HTML. I've seen some nice stuff though, like a different mouse cursor, a rain effect and such. There's one I loved, on another forum, but has since been removed. It was a radio button and when you clicked a message poped up. Making the message funny is my job :D.
    Any more ideas? Doesn't have to be something excessively fancy. Any thoughts are welcome.

    Oh, yeah... you can change the mouse cursor for different elements of your page. (Or the whole page by including it in the body section of your stylesheet)

    I've never seen the rain effect before, but I found this tutoial ... which seems to be a stylized 'S' in the marquee tag set to vertical.

    Message popups are almost surely done in a scripting language, however...

    vb/asp has the msgbox function
    javascript has the alert() function

    I did find a pretty flaky way of making CSS popups, but that can only be done with the anchor tag :(

    thx a lot Mada! There's a bunch of material for me to play with :D. I'll give you a link when the page decoration is done.
