I currently have a table written in HTML. It displays deadlines week by week and when a deadline is completed I change the cell background to blue, if it's pastdue it's red, if a future one is on track it's green, stuff like that.
I also have an Excel spreadsheet which is similar to the HTML table but much simpler and not color coded.

I was wondering if it's possible if maybe within the <td> </td> tags of the table there would be a way to call a certain cell in an excel document, and have just that cell be copied. I don't want the whole excel sheet to be put in HTML format, because I want the format of the HTML page and the Excel sheet to stay separate.

Going a step further if it's possible- the excel sheet would simply state if a deadline was reached with a "Yes" or not reached with a "No". and if "Yes" then change a certain cell's background on the HTML page to blue, or if "No" the background of the cell then becomes red.

i'd appreciate any advice on how to do this. thanks!

Yes, there is a way to do this. Are you at all familiar with visual basic? If not, it could be a long road to reaching this goal.
