HTML questions???

hello again
my bighest question is... is there a site that shows you html codes and then shows you what it does... because some friends and me are trying to build a site for our gaming clan and we want to do this stuff from scrach we know some html but arn't the greatest at it and frontpage takes up way to much space... so any help would be great... another thing is we dont know anything about java scrip so we want to say away from that for now 1st we want to get a site up with the free web space that we have and then we will step into java as things get easier for us with html...thanx again all
