htpc hook up w/ direct tv reciever

does anybody know of where to get those little dongle things that plug into usb to control a satellite receiver so that you can record tv shows on different channels even if you don't have cable? (this is with a tv tuner card of course)

 

A quick search on eBay using the search phrase " satellite tv usb " got 23 hits.
These appear to be tuners that take the cable feed from a satellite dish and send it via USB to your computer, bypassing the need for a separate TV tuner card.
These cost approximately $60 including shipping.

no i have a tv tuner card what i need is a way to change the channels of a direct tv receiver. its like a fake remote dongle with an ir laser on it which changes the channels automatically when recording shows. because the only channel you get when coming from a receiver is 3 or 4

OR should i ditch the receiver in which case would i be able to stream tv from just the satellite dish?

 

well i found out what it was called its called an ir blaster and now i just need to find some software to run it

 

ok so microsoft actually makes remotes for windows media center that come with ir blasters and that work directly with mce so there you go just go to new egg fro everyone that needs to find one
