HTTP mailtos with addresses that can't be spidered

    G'day all,

I'm looking for recommendations on how to have a HTTP form that sends mail to one of our accounts here. However, I don't want a plain old mailto: link, as the address can be spidered, and we don't want the addresses becoming bottomless spam buckets. Adding a SMTP component to the server isn't a problem, but I'm not too familiar with using it.

    Solutions I've found unsatisfactory:

    1. Have the address posted as an image - good way to prevent spam, but not very functional

    2. Have some javascript buggery concatenate an address, and create a mailto: link - So far the best solution, but I'm certain that the status bar text can be picked up on. (And it would be visible when someone viewed the page's source, no?)

Is there anything better I can do? A mailto: link might not be so bad if I can make sure that the subject is something common to all messages. Then I could set up a spam account, and create a rule that forwards legitimate messages to an actual account, but that's alot of overhead that I would avoid if I could.

    Thanks for any input!

I store them in a db and populate the drop down with the ID of that record. When the submission goes through, it queries the db for the email addy using the ID.
So in other words, I have an email submission form instead of a link on the page.

Yes, this is exactly what I wanted... I just forgot how to go about it...

    Thank you, sir!
