http://www.yahoo.com/#Scene_1

I am getting this in the IE9 address bar even though I have it set to plain www.yahoo.com. It changes to http://www.yahoo.com/#Scene_1 after a second or so. Not happening with Firefox.

I just tried http://www.yahoo.com/ in my IE 9.0.12 and had no problems, so there's nothing going on with the site.

Couple of things to try:

1. Close IE and dump your temporary internet files caches and history (Control Panel > Internet Options > General > Browsing history). You might even consider running CCleaner.

2. If that doesn't work try running IE with no add-ons to see if there's an extensions issue: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), see if your symptoms change.

 

Might have just figured out the 'Scene 1' thingy - did you notice some sort of rolling pop-up when you opened the page? Mine was a movie advertisement of some sort that lasted about 5 seconds - I didn't even notice the movie...rolleyes

If that's all it is, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. The fact that Firefox doesn't show it but IE does might merely be a difference in the way the browsers handle different javascripts, etc...

 

No rolling pop-up at all. When first opened Yahoo it normal, happened when I returned to the hompage and when refreshing the page.
I did what you suggested and now it has stopped.

I did notice that my IE9 is 9.0.8112.16421, underneath it says
Update Versions: 9.0.12 (KB2761465)

 

And it's back again.

 

Strange. Is the http://www.yahoo.com/#Scene_1 page different from the http://www.yahoo.com/ page?

 

It's not doing anymore (for now), but it seemed the same, no difference.
