Hung E-mail ??

I recently received an e-mail with a read response message request ( "the person sending this e-mail would like to have a receipt sent. Is this OK?") Ever since sending the read response, the "receipt" has been hung in my e-mail and Outlook attempts to send it every time the mail is checked. Is there someway to delete this - I cannot even find it.
