Hurricane season?

Despite all the dire forecasts that this was going to be a very bad year for hurricanes, so far it's been light. Only 3 "named" storms, and none of them have gotten above the tropical storm level. Last year we had 28 named storms, 15 of them being hurricanes. Katrina, in the middle of all that, hit at the end of August, and we're almost there already.

Not that I'm complaining. That's one set of predictions I'm happy to see wrong. May the rest of the season continue to be wrong. ;)

I know, this was supposed to be a terrible year for hurricanes. I bet people on the coast are praying they are wrong. :)

You don't seem many tornado's elsewhere in the world. This is probably a good thing.

I remember standing out in my front yard several decades ago, looking up at a lightly clouded sky. No reason, just checking it out. While I looked the clouds started spinning directly over my head, and an eye opened up. Like looking down at a hurricane, only directly overhead. Lasted a few seconds, and then disappeared. Disconcerting to say the least.

This part of the world they are way too common.

The Gulf waters are at record temperatures. We shall see. Hurricanes are natures way of cooling things down. Rough on us, but it works.

Yeah, it has been a bit uneventful so far; I can hear the cries of "lost profits" from the insurance companies already. ;)

Like those sons of bitches need an excuse. Hell the Alaskan Pipeline just got shut down, I am surprised that fuel costs haven't spike through the roof yet.

Shhhhhhhh...they might not think of that!!

And to hell with insurance companies!! They are as close to the mob as you can get and still be legal!!!! But as we all (and they) know...you'd be a fool to try to make it through life without them!!

Leave the insurance check...bring the cannoli. ;)

More people try to scam insurance companies than the IRS; I can't blame them for raising rates the way they do. Makes stealing a much less profitable proposition.

I believe it's because there has been too much wind shear in the Atlantic. It's disrupting the formation of storms, and tearing organization apart.
