Hyper Threading....

Ok I searched the other forums and didn't see what I was looking for.


I have a P4 2.4 533Mhz Prescott HT tech chip on a

ASUS P4P-800E Deluxe.. Which supports HT....

I ran several sys analysis and it's telling me this....

"Hyper-Threading Technology...................Not Supported"


How do I fix this? or sniff...is it not fixable....It may not be a big prob as I want to upgrade my processor soon anyhow..but I'd like to know that I have everythign working properly with this setup.

I payed for the HT I wanna see it!!

 

I have a Gigabyte mobo & P4 3.0, in bios is option to enable or disable Hyper Threading.

Hyper Threading is some what over rated, a bit of Intel Hype.
I find better performance when disabled.

Does the prescott P4 2.4 533 chip supports Hyper threading, I think not, But I could wrong.

I'm a retard....

It's not HT...although when I bought it from FRY's the guy said it was....Not going back to frys.

I need to learn more about this stuff...so I don't have to ask joey the service manager what CPU i'm holding.

 

my 2 cents, do not buy critical computer components from FRY's, ever! They do not return used, defective items back to the manufacturer but simply put them back on the self!

If you have to shop there, then don't bother asking the FRY's employees for help, I overhear them give incomplete and even incorrect info to people left and right. There might be a few good ones, but they are far and few in between.
