Hyperlink opens cascading email windows ???

I've had this problem for a while, it's hard to explain, but here I go:

I'm running XP on a Toshiba Laptop, I have MS Ofiice Pro
The Problem: I beleive a hyperlink is an email address found in the body of a page you can use to quickly email someone a message ie: Blah Blah Blah ehillmann@msn.com Blah Blah Blah, please correct me if I'm wrong ???

When I click on a hyperlink & only email ones not links to other pages just emails my computer will open a window to write an email only to have it "Error" and begin opening hundreds of identical pages stating an error has occured, it quickly locks up my computer forcing a hard re-start...??? The Error message states a "address default error has occured"
I've followed the simple "internet address default" instructions to no avail...???
