    Hello
    XP home sp3
    Control panel>programs>'mail', I have two choices; 1-msn explorer + 2- Outlook Express.
When a hyperlink appears during, e.x., reading and article + I wish to reply, O.E. opens.
Problem; I've been told O.E. has weak password protection so I prefer to use another program if vulnerable. I do not know why my Windows LIve Hotmail account is not listed with MSN + O.E.
Question; will my Windows Live Hotmail account open if I select MSN explorer?
Point;need reliable program to o[en as hyperlink is clicked without making major changes to pc.
    Thank you

Exactly what is the concern here? Do other people also normally use your computer? Do you use a password to logon to Windows?

Chances are very good that it would. Microsoft will do anything to promote and advance Hotmail. It's one of their flagships and they do not like to see Gmail increase their market share. They would want access to and compatibility with Hotmail from all their other products.

Hello -No one else uses the pc but I heard that O.E. has a weak password and did not know if that meant a vulnerabilty from inside or outside the house or both.
I use a password to log on to Windows and to O.E.
I have Mcafee security suite as it is free to Comcast customers, Windows Defender, and a hardware firewall.

Also, someone resonded that they thought MSN would open a hyperlink but I was reading that Windows Live Hotmail being web based would not open a hyperlink. I thought the same applied to MSN Explorer?

Ez for me if I'm ok with O.E. but willing to try to change if trouble.

    Hi

Hotmail or Windows Live accounts wont open with OE, needed to have a premium Hotmail paid account or a very very old Hotmail account for that ability, if your Hotmail account was one that formally opened in OE, then from June 2008 IIRC, the service was turned off as the migration to new servers and security ment that OE now not actively developed was replaced by Windows Live Mail Desktop in which will open Hotmail, Live, Gmail etc accounts all in one package.

Option if you dont wish to open your Hotmail account via a webpage is to use Windows Live Mail Desktop or Thunderbird for this open, both are actively developed so have much better security updates etc

Sorry but I forgot something + could not see an edit button.
If I use Windows Live Mail desktop, will it open an email other than O.E. so I can reply to a hyperlink? In this case I could then remove my O.E. account?
    Thanx again

    Hi
Yes, I was aware of the many titles Windows has confused its customers with.
As my Title iabove ndicates, I was looking for some program that would open when I have to reply to a hyperlink while surfing. So far O.E. has ben the only one I have had success with.
Internet options>programs>mail>O.E. WLM, MSN Explorer etc.
Web based programs don't work so I think I am stuck with O.E. although it work so I should not complain.
Just looking for a better mousetrap.
    Thanx for your help.
