Hyperlinks Issue

Running Vista Home Basic. Recently installed IE 8. Performed a custom installation with all of the accelerators turned and minimum add-ons, don't like either. Probably on at least 20% of the hyperlinks I click on now fail to open unless I right click and select open.

I know the answer ultimately is to revert back to IE7 and I'll probably do that. But first, has anybody else encountered this problem? And aside from uninstalling IE8 is there any other possible cause/fix?

Thanks for your reply. I think I've solved it. I had the popup blocker set to high, the default is medium and after I changed it back the issue went away.

The reason I set it to high in the first place is that with the installation of IE8 I keep getting small popup advertising Microsoft's Bing search engine. I thought I could block those but it did not work anyway. Interesting how M$ allows their little ad campaign but no others.
