need to program new keyless remotes for our 04 Santa Fe and 05 Elantra. Instructions say to locate the remote modules but just give vague descriptions like "behind dash on driver's side". Can't find any exact locations or pictures.

Anyone happen to have done this and know where they're located? The Hayne's manuals I have don't even mention them.

This site may give you more accurate information - http://www.hmaservice.com/
I don't know if there is any charge to register an account but may be worth it if you plan on keeping the vehicles for a good amount of time.

Unfortunately despite what the places that sell you the remote key fobs tell you, it looks like both vehicles have to have the re-coding of the ETACM done at the dealer via their Pro-Scan tool.

Thanks for the link to that site. Registration is free, has access to a lot of info.

I have found out from a different site (Hyundai-Forums.com) that I MAY be able to recode the ETACS module to the new remotes in the 04 Santa Fe depending on when it was mfg'd, as Hyundai phased out having a switch on the module during the production run. A guy posted that his SF mfg'd May 5 2004 does not have the switch but that is is known that 04 Santa Fe's mfg'd in 03 have a good percentage of them with a module with the set switch on them. Mine is 11/14/2003 according to the Carfax report we got before we bought it.

Have to go looking for the module after wifey gets home with car.

Just wanted to update that my 04 Santa Fe does have the ETACS module with the Off/Set switch so I was able to recode the system to the remotes we bought.

Not so lucky for our 05 Elantra and the extra remote we got for it. ETACS does not have Off/Set switch, looks like the dealer will have to do that one.
