I am new and need help please!

Hello I am having trouble with my computer freezing up. It will go for hours sometimes with no problom then it just freezes up. I think it is from a download from a cd I did because it seemed to start about that time and the software I downloaded did not work I had to delete it. The software was adaptic easy CD creater and I think the drivers from it took over my CD-rom drivers and won't let go. I tried downloading new drivers, that did not work . I tried Microsofts fix in the registry that did not work either. Can someone please help me?

Also neither of my Cd-rom nor my dvd-rom will work now.

Well, I'm using Win98se, but maybe I can give some advice, though.
First try to rollback the system using SystemRestore.
If this doesn't work, try to uninstall Adaptec (ControlPanel > Add/Remove Programs).
If this doesn't work either, go to Device Manager and delete your CD- and DVD-rom drives and restart computer.
Windows should reinstall those drivers automatically.

Aurelius ideas are dead on and should work. Im not a big fan of Adaptec due to all the startup items added in. Its a bloated program. If you uninstall it, you might be able to restore the CDROM drivers it screwed up by using a different CD program. I have had Adaptec do similar to me and removal and installation of a different program can help. Consider using Nero burning rom, an EXCELLENT cd writing suite. You can download a demo here:

Ok I have tried all of the above except installing a different CD program. on my way to try that now. Crossing fingers.

As MA said Nero is great buring program........Roxio/Adaptec EZCD version 5 has major problems with XP wich some updates do fix but EZCD 6 eliminates these problems......

Ok Yall I downloaded that program and when I went to run it I got this error

CRC failed in Shared\AudioPlugins\TWINVQ2.CDB
Unexpected end of archive

Is this something I need to worry about or not?

I've had loads of problems with Easy CD Creator myself... running Windows XP Home Edition. Though none that severe... hope everything works out for you! And I'd take the recommendations for getting Nero into consideration, 'cause, as they've said... it may very well be the best CD burning software out there... in my opinion anyway
