    I cannot connect to the internet with my home desktop computer. It is plugged into a wireless router. I have 2 other home laptops and one company laptop that does connect to the internet via wireless through the same router. Problem started about 3 weeks ago. I have run the Trend Micro antivirus, Malware Anti Malware, and CCleaner.com v2.19.901.

    computer is a Dell Dimension B110, running MS Windows XP Home SP3, with an Intel Celeron CPU and an Intel 82865G graphics controller. Router is a Motorola WR850G plugged into a Westell DSL router (model B 90-220030-D4). I am connected to DSL through local phone provider (bellsouth/att).

    The computer seems to run normal, except that I get a blank (white) page when I try to go to any internet page. When I try to update my Trend Micro, I get an error message "Check your Internet connection and try again."

    Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok, get one of your laptops and plug it in with the same cable that your computer plugs in with and turn off the wireless switch on your laptop, that way we test the LAN on your modem and the cable that goes with it, if you can still connect to the internet afterwards then you can safely say its your LAN card or onboard LAN in the PC ... as always it never hurts to run these;

    Hi

    Just a quick thing to try is do you have a software firewall (PCtools, ZoneAlarm or part of the Trend package)? if so then disable the firewall to test if its blocking you.

    Well, it appears that I somehow ended up with both the Windows Firewall and the Trend Micro fire wall on at the same time. I have turned both off, and then each on individually. The computer will allow internet access only with the Windows Firewall, not the Trend Micro fire wall. I understand why only one (Windows or Trend Micro) firewall should be on at one time, but I do not understand why Windows works and Trend Micro blocks everything.

    Thank you for your help.

    PS. By the way, I also checked connecting a laptop to the cable (as recommended by Drizzles) and that did allow access to the internet.

    Okay, I have tried both what you recommended and what Drizzles recommended. Both worked. A laptop connected to the cable (wireless off) allows internet access. Both firewalls (Trend and Windows) were on. When I turn Trend Micro firewall off, Windows Firewall allows internet access. When I turn Windows firewall off and Trend Micro Firewall on, Internet access is denied. Not sure why. I really appreciate your help.

    Sorry, I posted this after I got kicked out of the system. Did not realize the other post went through.
