I have just put this in my machine.
    H-L Data Storage
    CDR/RW Drive
    Model: GCE-8483B

There is a barcode and underneath it says
GCE-8483B/HTG9 (Just incase that will help with searching.)

I cannot find the drivers, I've searched everywhere. I thought I had it from driverguide.com, but when I downloaded the file, it had a different model number than my disc drive.

    <-----Just some more Info.----->
    Hitachi-LG Data Storage,Inc.
LG Rd. 19, Zhongkai Hi-Tech Industry
    Development Zone, Huizhou, Guandong, China

    Please help, Thank you!

PS. There was a thread on "GCE-8483B" But the lady was using a Packard Bell, and the only links giving were like packardbell.com and such. Thank you.

As of Windows 98, there are no drivers needed/available for optical drives. The built in ones provided by the OS do the trick.

The default drivers in your OS should be suitable for this drive, does it not work? ed

=/ My Drive will not work, and it says there are no drivers installed. When I go to my device manager it has a yellow exclamtion mark on it, but it says

    [Oo]t-st CD-RW gCW}97=ss

The sticker on the disc drive itself says all the information from my last post.

Also when I try to install the drivers it gives me the option of letting the computer find them from the internet, but it always ends up saying it couldn't find the drivers.

I do not know what to do from here.

    I'm using XP Home edition.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Give this a shot. I posted this to a similar thread, although a different error code.

Code 10 isn't very common for optical drives.

Worth a shot though. Worst thing that can happen is what I've already noted, burning software stops working till reinstalled.
