I have two problems. 1: I bought a laptop from a Marine about to deploy. It had no power cord. After I bought one on line, I discovered the laptop has a sign-on p/w to go into windows vista. I have tried everything I know of including pulling the CMOS battery. It didn't work.I can't creat another supervisor account, because I can't get into windows. I have the laptop here, but I can't solve that problem. Which brings me to problem #2. I tried to downolad a password remover program on my desktop computer and when I do, it gives me the error message "(filename) couldn't be downloaded" and that happens everytime I try to download anything! :confused

Tonyrush did say that he can't download anything to his desktop computer. Do you have an idea or suggestion as to what might cause and how he could correct his second issue?

    No.
If he can't download it, he should get a friend to download and burn the ISO for him. Once he gets the laptop working, I might suggest things to look at on the other computer - but he'll need the laptop to download programs.

The computer in the other thread is an HP laptop not a desktop. He doesn't specify the make or model of laptop for this thread. He needs to supply more info about both the laptop and the desktop. You agree?

I don't know why people can't seem to read the "Sticky" about supplying info about their computers.

It's only 2 computers with problems. A laptop that I can't sign into, and a desktop that won't allow me to download anything.

    OK. It's two computers:

1.) The HP laptop running Vista Basic that you you can't log into. Are you talking about a BIOS password or a Windows password? Did you get the malware issue(s) taken care of with this laptop?

2.) An unspecified desktop computer running an unspecified OS that you can't download anything to — so, what's the make and model of the desktop computer and what OS are you running on it? This info is needed so we can research the issue and offer suggestions.

I created another screen name and gave it admin. power, then signed in with that screen name ad deleted the other names. All laptop problems are solved now. Thanks!
